My super power

Your Superpower Should Be Manipulating Electricity

You’re highly reactive, energetic, and super charged.
If the occasion calls for it, you can go from 0 to 60 in a split second.
But you don’t harness your energy unless you truly need to.
And because of this, people are often surprised by what you are capable of.
Why you would be a good superhero: You have the stamina to fight enemies for days

Your biggest problem as a superhero: As with your normal life, people would continue to underestimate you

What Should Your Superpower Be?

Geekery

Don'tcha wanna be a geek like me?

So, for months I’ve been planning my complete and total media blackout for the weekend of July 21. My preordered Harry Potter should be on its way and I’ll be sitting on my front stairs waiting for it ’til it gets here.

Then, I’m gonna read. And read. And read.

The TV will not go on ’til I’m done. Neither will the computer, the radio, or pretty much any other type of media source that could possibly spoil the ending for me. I will not go near a Chapters so that some random idiot can yell out a car window who dies at the end of the book. I will *NOT* be spoiled.

Turns out? I’m not the only one. In a way? That’s kinda scary…

Trash the what, now?

A few weeks ago I came across this website.

Essentially, once the wedding is all said and done, instead of paying big bucks to store a dress they’re never gonna wear again, and taking up space in an already overflowing closet, women are doing photo shoots in odd locations, like a Louisiana swamp or the Pacific ocean, and essentially trashing their dresses for the sake of, well, a really awesome pile of pictures.

I ran a poll on the Rogers Yahoo! today module with a news feature about the site, asking if readers would trash their dresses for the sake of art or are they treasuring that dress always…  An overwhelming 70% said, no, no way, uh-uh to the dress trashing.

Me? I’m not sure if I’d do it. It’d have to be a location that was pretty meaningful to either me or to me and my groom… and it’d have to be a really awesome photographer. I wouldn’t want to go through all that hassle and ruin a dress I spent a huge amount of money on for crappy pictures.

What about you? Would you trash your dress? Why or why not?

Not gonna do it, wouldn't be prudent

I know, I’m totally dating myself with that reference, but there you go.

Dear Author has discovered this. I am*not* gonna click. I’m not. I hate being spoiled… I hate the sick feeling in the pit of my belly as I watch or read something I know the ending to, it just… ruins… it for me.

That being said, *not* clicking any time over the next month? Totally gonna be torture.

(and if *you* click and come back and tell me, I can’t be held responsible for my actions. :P   I even took the weekend the book comes out off work so I wouldn’t be spoiled by any news articles or early reviews…)

Heh, it's not just me

At last! A blog after my own heart…

Now, do I tell the instructor in the course I’m taking that there are multiple apostrophe abuses on his web portfolio? *grin*

Not dead

Really. :)

But, between the life-changing event and the weekend job and the editing jobs, blogging, I fear, has fallen by the wayside. (As has my writing, which is driving me nuts because this story is just aching to be finished… argh).

So, for the next couple of months, expect posting to be sporadic at best. I will try to post semi-regularly (as in, please don’t stop sending questions for Ask the Grammar Geek :) ), but for the most part, um, I’m still here, just not here here.

And I’m sure my authors are happy to hear that their edits are taking precedence over my blogging. *grin*

Oh, but on a positive news front… I went to the dentist today and…no cavities! wooh!

Feeding the Geekery

Amidst the writing, I’ve also watched this about eight times already today…

I’ve already re-read the first six books, and I’m planning a complete and total media blackout when my already preordered book 7 arrives on my doorstep. (and if anyone spoils the ending for me, you *will* face my wrath… ;) ), but now I can’t wait to see this… So cool. When’s it gonna be July?

Stuff

I've become completely addicted…

to Facebook. Have you tried this?

I mean, my alter ego has a MySpace page, but I’m really not a big fan of the whole atmosphere over there, so I rarely spend any time hanging out on the site. The most I do is get random emails from strippers who want to be my friend. Um, no. but thanks! :)

But Facebook. Dude! I joined mostly because my sister invited me and I thought it’d be a cool way to keep in touch… then I started playing around. I found friends from college, from university, even from high school. I haven’t really looked from elementary school, but I’m sure I will… I even made T get a profile. T, who completely doesn’t go near the computer ever. (I know. I live online… if you ever wondered if opposites really do attract, heh, yes, yes we do.)

And I’ve been spending wayyyyy too much time over there, searching through people’s profiles, joining groups, exchanging emails with old friends. Which, while much fun and very cool, is probably not so good as life is about to get very interesting in my world.

I’ve made a bit of a life-changing decision (well, I’m 99% sure I’m going through with it anyway), that’s going to completely overwhelm my life for the next four months. (No, I’m not pregnant. ;) ) So I’m trying to get ahead of my projects so that I won’t get completely stressed out with the amount of work I’m taking on… I shouldn’t. I mean, I spent the past six months working insane hours, and I lived through that, this should be a walk in the park, but still, sleep is good.

But if you haven’t found Facebook, you should totally try it… Be like Mikey. He likes it!

I just learned a new word

So, R left a comment on my last post, in which the word ‘grok’ is used. Grok? Hm. Maybe a spelling mistake? Maybe a new comment will appear soon? But no. So I did a little searching. Turns out grok *is* a word. A really darn cool word, now that I know it. And, despite the discussion T and I had about it, not Klingon. ;)

Grok is an understanding beyond empathy and intimacy.

What a great way of saying “I’m so down with that.” :D
